CleanTech Human Capital offers mid-level management staffing and recruiting services to organizations in the green economy. Additional services include job boards, networking event management, candidate coaching and resume preparation services.

The Mission

CleanTech Human Capital is a socially driven for-profit company that seeks to find meaningful employment for experienced mid-career professionals in the green economy while reinvesting a portion of income into relevant community building non-profit organizations. Examples of future partners are the Ella Baker Center (Green For All), RenewPAC and the Semper Fi Fund.

The Team

Ian Thomson founded CleanTech Human Capital to provide a platform to bring dedicated people to status-quo changing organizations developing economically and environmentally sustainable solutions. As a child, he was given a solar panel that powered his portable radio. From then on conventional fossil fuel derived energy never again seemed logical. He has since seen the social and political ramifications of pursuing fossil fuel resources first hand while serving as a US Marine Officer.

Ian has worked as an independent CleanTech consultant in Europe and the United States, completing projects on 3rd generation biofuels, biomass gasification, carbon capture/sequestration and sustainable construction. He has recently collaborated with the Full Circle Fund's initiative to promote the Ella Baker Center's efforts with the Oakland Green Jobs Corps; serves as a member of the steering committee for the Renewable Energy Business Network; and acts as a regional consultant for RenewPAC - an industry-wide political action committee supporting political leaders that commit to stimulating America to take a leadership position on energy independence, clean sustainable energy and climate change.  He holds a BA in International Relations and Foreign Policy from Boston University and an MBA from IESE in Barcelona.

Clark McBride joined Cleantech Human Capital in November 2008 as a Senior Executive Search Consultant. Clark brings with him a solid scientific/lab experienced background and nearly seven years of recruiting for the sciences.

Clark worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Washington State University and then entered into the biotech industry to work primarily in microbiology and in-vivo pharmacology for organizations in South San Francisco and San Diego, CA.  He left the lab to join Scientific Staffing; where he managed and helped build two scientific staffing firms in San Diego, CA.  He has also worked internally for biotech firms including, Abbott Vascular, Synthetic Genomics, and Codexis.  He most recently was the Staffing Manager for LS9, Inc. in South San Francisco and helped them to more than double in size in less than 10 months before moving joining CleanTech Human Capital.

Clark holds a BS in Environmental Science and Regional Planning and a BS in Biology from Washington State University.
